Our founder and captain
In 2021, Vasco Moreira decided to turn his lifelong passion into his main activity, sharing with our clients his 40 years of experience of uninterrupted connection with the ocean. He founded the sailing tours company where he is partnered with his son, Miguel, who is also a sea addict and a professional skipper.
Vasco began mastering the helm at the age of 8 on his father’s sailboat. This way of learning gave him the skills that turned Vasco into a sailing champion. He became a highly respected name in Portugal sailing competitions with a lot of titles won in different classes.
At his first National Championship, when he was just 16 years old, in the 420 class, he went straight into the Top 10 of Portugal, beginning his incredible path of success in sailing competitions.
At the age of 20 he started competing in the 470 Olympic class, trying to qualify for the Portuguese Olympic team and then chose to single sail in the Laser Olympic class, where we managed to reach the Top 5 competitors in Portugal with many victories in various international regattas.
Match Racing also marked his career, Vasco being three times champion of the Azores, while also ranking 8th in the national championship.
His house is full of trophies won in all kinds of Azores Regattas, the last ones being conquered last year, even though he doesn’t have much time to participate in competitions anymore.
